The Golden Gate bridge is a key spot to visit in California. Perhaps it’s because of the tourist hype, but I was a bit shocked by the reality that it is in fact, just another bridge that sees mundane traffic from day to day. It’s structural beauty shines brightly, unlike the overpriced snacks sold beside it. I especially liked the cheeky stickers on the signs nearby, the pair of accordion players sending lovely songs into the breeze, and the sparkling water I also got to view from Route 1.

There’s a sort of architectural splendor that never fails to impress me, and it’s when buildings can strike the balance between sophisticatedly ornamental and functionally people-oriented. The captiol building in Wisconsin is breathtaking, and I’d be hard pressed to point out a single dull nook or cranny.
